Life @ Call Centre- My Lookout...

I was reading today's Newspaper and read an article on Call Centre n BPO's Culture..
Could not control my feelings... Be this industry good or bad i began my career wid this industry..
Wen all big Companies wanted an degree, and were not ready to place me for my knowledge.. this industry gave me a chance..
And i learned a lot frm there... Be it my communication skill.technical knowledge and did get a chance to rise...

I wonder why now a days this industry is been looked down?
Is it because Retail, Insurance, or IT is coming up in the market... or its because teenagers are getin financially secured...
I think i wouldnt have been able to afford a Levis jeans when i was in my grads.. i had many guys n gals who were doin ther grads and were wrking there, earning well.. in fact there take home was equal to a Banking Executive... who keep beggin in front of you to get a credit card, invest in a policy, but dont they have targets? dont they have stress.. the only difference is that they dont have night shifts.. No, in fact now a days big IT Companies have nite shifts...

The article contains views of principals of LSR, Sri Venkateswara College,Ramjas College, these college are one of the best colleges and have the potential to get there students placed in top notch companies...
But wat about those institutes where no one one goes for placements... lets talk about some small colleges where there are students who have the potential but they dont get the opportunity, cos they are not from big colleges
For people like me who are not from very reputed College, Call Centers give a start.. I have learned a lot from IBM.. and till date i thank my team leaders, my team mates...

For them these call centers are bliss.. atleast they are financially secured, they dont have to beg in front of there parents to give them pocket money...

I agree with the fact that its not for a long term.. there is no point for staying there for long if ur not growing there .... one should look for better opportunities n move on...
And this is applicable to all the industries... check out the Attriation rate in Banking Industries, IT industries ets... i think they are neck to neck wid BPO's...

But this wrong to say that this industry's (BPO'S) stress level is high, biological cycle is disturbed...
This happens in almost all the indstries.. i have my friend who works for a Mutual Fund Orgn- on month end he comes bck home at 2 Am or may be later...
IT Companies put so much pressure wen the project deadlines are near..
The fact is that all this is not evident, where as in BPO's it known to all....

Good n BAd is part of all Industries.... its wrong to keep highlighting about only one in particular...

i learnt the value of money.. i rem the day wen i had only 50 bucks at end of the month...
Above all.. i learnt to be patient... which i lacked...
it has changed my personality competely....
I personally feel that this industry has too much to teach..
